WAINSCOTT RESIDENCE
The design of this modern home sought to optimize both the indoor and outdoor spaces. Great attention was given to both the lighting and architecture at the exterior living spaces. Linear slot lighting harmonizes with the structured design and manicured landscape. Uplights and downlights are used in conjunction with sculptural and art elements, creating points of interest with intense highlights and shadows. The exterior to interior transitions are showcased with open window walls allowing free movement throughout. Floating horizontal planes and linear accents are carried from one location to another with uplights and downlights creating accents for artwork. The control system provides easy access for the color changing pool lights.

TELLURIDE MOUNTAIN RESIDENCE
This majestic ultramodern signature residence was designed to capture the breathtaking landscape of the surrounding mountains. Roof planes extend upward, opening the home toward the sky, with branching supports columns reminiscent of trees. Rather than minimize the home’s structural elements, the architecture embraces these supports, making them a distinguishing feature of this home. The lighting echoes the architecture, seeking to highlight the support columns and the intersection of the support columns with the ceiling planes. Following this lead, the lighting is also instrumental in creating floating architectural elements using hidden horizontal LED components.

STARWOOD RESIDENCE
This home was configured to take advantage of the panoramic mountain views, which provide a backdrop for the owner’s extensive art collection. Every wall in this home is configured to allow current and future works of art and had to be lit accordingly. Considering the time and care that was taken to curate the art collection, the lighting is designed to be unobtrusive and augment the collection. As a second goal, the lighting sought to embrace the outdoor environment to make it a continuation of the interior space. Lighting placed within the landscaping and site walls draws the eye through the large window glazing to the exterior. The crisp lines that were created with the architecture are mirrored within the lighting details. Integrated linear details take a minimalist approach, with the effect of the light, not the source of light being prominent.

Linear lighting runs along steel elements, reinforcing the metal structure while in grade uplights graze the curved board-form concrete wall, emphasizing it’s craftmanship. Recessed lighting blends seamlessly into plaster ceilings encouraging closer viewing of the various wall hangings. The lighting works as a discreet element, used to emphasize the architecture and collections.

MOUNTAIN VILLAGE RESIDENCE
This mountainside home embraces structural architecture with a Native American influence. Wood and stone finishes are emphasized with a variety of techniques creating a multi-layer canvas that invites occupants to explore the home, guided by integrated or placed totems and enjoying private nooks. The neutral architectural palate is offset with pops of color introduced with interior furnishings and artwork. The lighting mimics this dichotomy, using hidden linear sources in combination with minimally dispersed downlights as a base layer, then accenting with strategically placed downlights for artwork and decorative pieces, creating drama and accenting the homes distinct style.

Horizontal planes ground this contemporary home which boasts amazing views of the Northern California hillside. Clean architectural design led to a minimalist approach to lighting design by using square aperture downlights as both general and accent light throughout the home. Uplights and hidden linear elements highlight architectural materials while carefully selected decorative fixtures create drama and visual interest. Landscape fixtures highlight the stone façade, as well as a water feature while tree mounted lighting throws a leaf projection patterns along the pathways, creating a moonlit feel.

ASPEN REMODEL
Designed to realize the owner’s desire for both a comfortable, relaxing space and a way to showcase their extensive art collection, this traditional 1980’s style home was completely remodeled into a modern, contemporary home. The lighting emphasizes the native stone , teak siding, and patina copper panels that provide a contemporary counterpoint to the original structure.
